Should laws allow same-sex marriage?

Pro: The institution of same-sex marriage would not require any religious group to perform marriages for people of the same sex. It would not require anything of churches.

Con: Institutionalizing same-sex marriage would be costly to employers and insurance companies, because it would entitle partners in same-sex marriages to the benefits already provided to married people of the opposite sex.
