Should ammunition be registered?

Con: Registering all ammunition is impractical, if not impossible.

Con: Most ammunition, once spent, cannot be identified. And so it could not be traced to its user.

Reply: Manufacturers of ammunition might someday be able to dope each batch of their products with unique chemical tracers which could allow the products, no matter how deformed, to be linked with purchasers.
